St. Johns, Arizona’s location is ideal for a variety of activities including hunting, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, water-skiing and snow skiing. The city park features a heated pool, horseshoe pits and game courts for tennis, racquetball and volleyball.
St. Johns hosts numerous equestrian events during the year at the Apache County Fairgrounds and city, county, church, community and Chamber sponsored events happen throughout the year.
Apache County Historical Society Museum is in the heart of St. Johns and offers a look into the area’s colorful history. The St. Johns Regional Chamber of Commerce offices and our Visitor’s Information Center are located in the museum. We provide brochures and tourist information for Apache County and sites throughout Arizona.

Local Area
St. Johns is in Southeastern Apache County and serves as the county seat. Petrified Forest / Painted Desert National Park is 50 miles North of St. Johns and easily reached via US Highway 180. To the South, Lyman Lake State Park is only 12 miles from St. Johns and the communities of Springerville and Eager (Round Valley) are 30 miles from town. Take SR61 just 15 miles west to the village of Concho.
The Community
St. Johns is known as “The Town of Friendly Neighbors” and takes pride in the motto. With a population of 3,865 people, it is not at all uncommon for visitors to get a sense that local people know and care about others in the community. Friendly greetings are frequent and sincere. St. Johns Schools
St. Johns Unified School District includes kindergarten through grade 12. Charter schools are also available. Northland Pioneer Community College offers a variety of vocational, technical and academic classes and operates a satellite campus in St. Johns.
